MAX - The Swedish Burger

One of my Swedish friend suggested MAX burger to me. Today, I visited one of their restaurant in Barkaby.

I must say that MAX burgers are mindblowing. I will now think twice to go to McDonalds/Burger King.

The MAX chain started around 1968 and has been giving stiff competion to other foreign chains.

Swedish people just love this chain. The restaurant do a brisk business and you can see a long queue of die-hard MAX lovers.

The burger tasted amazing. The patty was soft and inside chicken was nicely barbequed . There were lot of veggies with fine balance of different sauces.

A visit to MAX is highly recommended for people who love burgers. Infact their choice of dessert is also good. 10/10 for MAX.

Cruise Trip.....

The best way to travel to Finland and nearby Swedish islands is through a Cruise ship. Last week I took the Viking Line cruise to Mariehamn island.

The Viking Line have daily departures at 6 PM . Arrival next morning at 10:00 am in Mariehamn island. The ships docks at Mariehamn for 2 hours. You are back in Stockholm by 3:00 pm next afternoon.

These ships feature a selection of restaurants in different styles and price ranges and there is live entertainment. The cruise through the Stockholm Archipelago is very scenic.

Round trip fares start at incredible SEK 300 and can go quite a way up, depending on the departure date and the type of cabin you want.

It's Midsummer time again!!!!

The entire Sweden is soaked in Midsummer festivities.

Midsummer signifies the day when night is same as day. There is sunlight throughout the night.

The Swedes celebrate this day by having parties which go till wee hours in the morning. It's also said that on this day, everything that grows in wild have magical powers. So, the local people here get the flowers and keep it at home to have the magic throughout the year........

Indian Grocery and Masala in Stockholm

The two best places to get Indian grocery is Kista Grossen near Kista metro station and Tajmahal in Stockholm downtown (near Hotorget metro station). These grocery stores have a good stock of Indian masalas and food items.

If you are a Thai/Chinese food lover then you can get the grocery/food items near the Hotorget metro station.

Trip to Gothenborg

Last week I visited the second biggest city in Sweden, Gothenborg. Gothenborg is a base of some well known manufacturing companies like Volvo and SKF. What I liked about the city was a blend of tradition and modern.

I took the express train from Stockholm Central Station and it took me around 3.5 hrs to reach the destination. The journey in train was amazing as I got a nice view of the beautiful landscapes.

As suggested by a friend, I took a day pass after I reached Gothenborg. It was cheap and I got unlimited access to both bus and trams. I attended a seminar in Svenska Massan (Swedish Exhibition) center.

After that I took a city ride in the tram and visited some of the places like botanical garden and the Gothenborg downtown.

The next day I again took the afternoon train to come back to Stockholm.

Getting an apartment in Stockholm

Getting an apartment in Stockholm is difficult. You need to plan for apartment before you arrive here. Some of the sites I suggest to find an apartment are www.bostaddirekt.com and www.indica.se . There is apparently huge shortage in apartments due to regulation in new construction. The best period to search for apartments is the month of June and July. This is when most of the Swedes go on vacation and they rent out their apartments.
